Town Hall Recap: Agriculture Technology Pathways

This episode of the Getting Smart Podcast is a recording of the latest Getting Smart Town Hall — Agriculture Technology Pathways. On this episode, we heard from a great panel of guests running a wide range of programs to help young people connect with the growing field of agriculture technology. 

We started with an introduction to Wonderful Pathways featuring Program Director Abel Guzman and a recent graduate Yehidy Gomez. Together, they illuminated the ways in which Wonderful uses dual enrollment and company partnerships to connect young people with valuable experiences and connections to employment. 

We then heard from Rachael McClain, of Collegiate Edu-Nation who discussed the ways in which Texas is expanding access to pathways for numerous young people in their communities. 

Then we heard from John Gordon Jr., the head of Boys Grow, an organization in Kansas City, Missouri that brings youth into a summer ag program to develop skills and make mentorship connections. Boys Grow is a great example of the power of place-based education. 

Lastly, we heard from Ian Kitajima, an innovator and design thinker in Hawai’i doing important work to show educators what’s possible in leading cities like Seoul.
